Biography

Fatma Baydan works in various craft techniques, particularly the paper art of quilling. Based in Mersin, she brings the manual skills and production experience gained in the textile industry to her artistic practice. She has been working with quilling for approximately eight or nine years. Over time, she has developed her own techniques, preparing paper strips herself as well as using ready-made materials, and creating works at different scales. Her practice emphasizes intricate paper craftsmanship, color, and methods intended to improve the durability of the work. By interpreting traditional quilling through her own production methods, she seeks to develop a distinctive visual language. She also accepts commissions.
