Gönül Kocamaz is an artist and instructor who flame-works Murano glass to create jewelry and glass artworks.

Biography

A skilled glass artist, Gönül Kocamaz was born in Gebze, Kocaeli, in 1974 and discovered flame-working after the age of 40. She continues her practice at Gönül’ün Cam Atölyesi in Darıca. She is recognized by the Republic of Türkiye’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism as a flame-working artist and a bearer of intangible cultural heritage. As a master instructor at the Public Education Center, she has also had the opportunity to teach glass art to many people. She flame-works Murano glass into original jewelry and glass artworks. She has participated in many festivals, exhibitions, and cultural heritage events, including the Denizli International Glass Biennial. Through these activities, she aims to introduce glass art to wider audiences, sustain traditional glass craftsmanship, and pass it on to future generations.
