Biography

Born in Beyşehir, Konya, in 1974, Hamiyet Afşar Memiş came to art through experience in different fields. After many years in banking, she retired in 2019 and turned to painting, the medium through which she could most fully express her inner world. Her artistic journey had begun with fine arts education in her youth, but circumstances led her to put it on hold for a time. Returning to her brushes years later, she began to express the emotions she had gathered in a deeper and more individual visual language. Her paintings are shaped more by feeling than technique, and more by intuition than rules. In each work, she brings her current state of mind, inner fluctuations, and connection with life directly onto the canvas. For her, painting is not only making something, but also communicating—even “talking” directly with her works. She therefore believes that each painting has a spirit of its own. Her deep love and compassion for stray animals is one of her strongest motivations. Each work offers not only aesthetic expression, but also the meaningful excitement of potentially touching another life. Describing herself as “an artist without a diploma, but with a soul,” Hamiyet Afşar Memiş experiences emotions intensely and channels that intensity directly into her brushwork. Sincerity, openness, and lived experience are central to her work. She extends her greetings to all beings who carry love and compassion in their hearts and invites viewers to share in that feeling.
