Serap Ülker Zerman

About the artist

Serap Ülker Zerman creates paintings inspired by marine life and the underwater world.

Biography

A graduate of Marmara University’s Faculty of Economics, Serap Ülker Zerman developed her artistic knowledge through work in the studios of many established painters, both during and after her professional career in banking. She has also explored other artistic disciplines, attending classes as a visiting student in the Fresco and Mosaic Studio at Mimar Sinan University’s Faculty of Fine Arts for a period. Her paintings follow the sea and its creatures, asking: “Do beings that live in the world of water rather than on land belong to an alternative universe, distant from the human realm?” She has exhibited in Türkiye and abroad and continues her practice in her own studio in İstanbul.
