Zehra Metin works under the name Mai Çini, drawing inspiration from Ottoman and İznik çini traditions.

Biography

Zehra Metin lives in Manisa and studied çini decoration at Kütahya Dumlupınar University. Inspired by traditional Ottoman and İznik çini, she seeks to preserve this longstanding heritage and carry it forward through her own interpretation. During her student years, she also worked briefly with Mehmet Gürsoy, whose contribution to her development she values highly. Alongside a career involving numbers, her interest in classical styles has led her to share striking works with AktifSanat, and she now plans to continue with figurative pieces. Through Mai Çini, she continues to bring new aesthetic approaches to the art of çini.
