Who Are We?

Aktif Sanat was founded by a group of artists and art historians who came together to discuss and develop ways to improve Türkiye’s art environment, art literacy, and artists’ social and economic circumstances. We also wanted to explore how to make art understandable to our children and to show that art is more than the often absurd, sometimes openly ridiculed work of ill-intentioned curators and exhibitions.

Above all, this community aims to create a place where people of every age and level of experience, working in every branch of art, can exhibit their work—with particular encouragement for amateurs who want to become involved in art.

To keep enthusiasm and talent from drifting without direction, we also organize classes in art, art history, and practical techniques. We want to give that desire to create a solid foundation, so our artists can continue their journeys with confident steps.

As we create places where our artists can share and even sell their work, we aim to do so creatively, using approaches not yet tried in Türkiye. We can talk about how when you join us :)

We do not charge to promote our artists, particularly on social media. In fact, we do not currently charge our artists at all. We have specified social media here only in case our numbers grow so much that we need to share expenses, or we reach a point where competition authority rules require a different approach. So where do we earn our money? Who are we, exactly?

The answer is simple: we are artists too, and we will earn the return on our work through our own art. By working alongside more artists, we can earn more, just like everyone else who joins our family. That is all.

If we receive advertising revenue or similar income, we can also add to the scholarships we already provide for students :)

Now then…

We come to the most important part…

This community has no president or boss. We have moderators and administrators, and we will decide on all our activities together with our artists.

Every artist who shares work with us joins not only the Aktif Sanat community but also our artists’ group, through which artists can support one another.

We share information about events, grants, support programs, competitions, and other opportunities in Türkiye and abroad, and help one another prepare.

By sharing your work with us, you are considered to have agreed to its promotion on our social media accounts and website. Of course, if you want your work removed from our website, we can take it down promptly. We cannot make the same guarantee for Instagram where removal might disrupt the feed, but naturally we do not intend to keep it there against your wishes :) We will do our best, even as we are sorry to see you go.

To Share Your Work With Us, Please Send:
